"Young" refers to "Young People". To us, young people is anyone who would like to explore, innovate and doubt, regardless their real age. "Renmin" can be explained "citizens" or "people" in Chinese. We hope the magazine can carry the words from different perspective, like the ideal Public Sphere and always voice from the people. Moreover, we would like our members act like citizens and not to be ordinary staffs in any hierarchical firm.

"Young" comes from so-called Western World and "Renmin" is a term from Asia. The name, which has the meaning of cross-culture, implies one significant point of the magazine: allow discourse from different perspectives.

Why Young Renmin exists?

The magazine exists for 3 purposes:

Encourage innovative creations from Youth

Nowadays young people accept plenty of information and know a lot; however, they may notvoice out and just sit and receive. On the other hand, there are a lot of young people withcreative mind and/or ability to do something new, but they may be too busy to do, or theirwork cannot continue for lack of support, finacially and spiritually, or both. What themagazine want to do is to give young people a space to publish their works and get moresupport from outsiders. It results in young creators understand that their works are MENTIONED and encourage them to work further. The means to achieve this objective of courseis open our sections for young people all over the world (We also welcome those who areyoung in mind) and encourage them to publish their work.

Develop and enhance rational thinking and independent thinking among Youths

We have already had a lot of sources for our emotional thinking. Young Renmin does notcondemn emotional thinking but we need a balance between emotional and rational thinking. Toelaborate, is to help us, through young people themselves, think more, think deeply, thinkrationally and keep balance with emotion. To built-up this kind of thinking habit is to introduce, discuss and criticize all around us; through preparation, interpretion and response, our readers can build up a habit to think more, deeply and balanced between rational and emotional thinking.

To widen youth people's horizon and build up the mind to understand things around us first

We perhaps limit ourselves in a comfortable scope of knowledge: we follow what we studied or are studying in school and institutes,and have little explore of other aspects. We in fact know not very much as a result. Moreover, a lot of people love to limit themselves in a cetain world, be indifferent to new things but interpret them in their own mind, without a better understanding of these new things. Through the introduction of things all around us, itis hoped that our horizon can be widened and we get a mind to try to understand and accept anything around us.
